A solar panel converts sunlight into usable electricity. It consists of several solar cells connected together, and made of semiconductor materials such as silicon. When sunlight hits the solar cells, it excites the electrons and creates an electric current.
Solar panels are used to produce clean and renewable energy from the sun and reduce the use of electricity. They are usually installed on rooftops, open fields and solar farms to harness sunlight to generate electricity. Solar energy is environmentally friendly, reduces reliance on fuel and oil and helps fight climate change and can be used to power homes, businesses and even entire communities.
However, a solar panel has a defined physical size and depends on the level of energy output that needs to be provided. The higher the energy level, the larger the physical size of the panel and the surface area. Which means that when the panel is placed on a light pole, sometimes the panel becomes a “sail” that opposes the winds and affects the load that the light pole is exposed to. Also, a solar panel on a light pole is not aesthetic – it looks big and bulky and serves as a “roof” for the pole.
Compared to the familiar solar panel, the ENERLEV group’s solar lighting pole is a lighting pole with a flexible solar panel that wraps around the pole, so the surface area of the pole in front of the wind is very small and thus more resistant and safer against winds. The panel is actually wrapped around the column, which creates an elegant appearance of the column that seemingly appears without a panel – rather, the panel compliments the design of the column and corresponds with its style.
In addition to visuals, the position of the wrapped solar panel can be adjusted to the area that receives the most sunlight, compared to a normal solar panel that would be on the top of the pole. With the many advantages it provides, the solar pole can fulfill many roles, whether it is used for lighting, advertising, as a communication pole and more…
